Annual day 2016-2017

Dr. Vaman Nandavar, eminent literary critic and former President of TuluSahitya Academy was the chief guest during Annual Day of Besant National PUCollege for 2016-2017. “Education is not merely gaining knowledge, education isstrength,” he said in his address. “Every man and woman has the ability toachieve success and educational institutions too should share the determinationto attain it.”

Sri Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice President of Women’s National Education Societywelcomed the gathering. Smt. Krupakshi, Senior Lecturer in Commerce introducedthe guest. Principal of the college Smt. Ashalatha P. Nayak read the report.Akshay J. Kotian, President of the Student’s Council of the college presentedthe report of activities of the council.

Commerce Student P. Chetan V. Gavaskar, who had scored the highest marks in theprevious year’s Second PU Board exams, was felicitated by the Chief Guest withGold Medal, citation and cash prize sponsored by the Parent TeachersAssociation. The students who had scored high marks in the previous year’sFirst PU Board exams too were honoured with cash prize and certificates by theParent Teachers Association. The sports talents were also felicitated on thesame occasion. Commerce lecturer Smt. Beena K., read out the list of prizewinners.

Managing Committee President of the college Sri Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy presidedover the function. Correspondent of the college Sri M. Suresh N. Mallya waspresent. Pratham P. Bhandary, Secretary of the Student’s Council of the collegeproposed the vote of thanks. Students Nihal, Khatija, Thatrifa, Dilip Vernekarand Shamrina compered the programme. Entertainment programme followed theformal function.

On the previous day a programme was held for various types of prizedistribution. Smt. Bharathi Prabhu, President of the Parent TeachersAssociation and Sri Shyamsundar Kamath, Secretary of the management handed overthe prizes and felicitated the students. Principal of the college Smt.Ashalatha P. Nayak presided over the programme. Commerce lecturer Smt.Krupakshi proposed the vote of thanks. Fazila Sheen was the master ofceremonies.
